September 14 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
George Francis will be playing songs from his new album ‘Year Of The Dog’, in a stripped-down set featuring one man, his guitar, a piano and possibly a tambourine if the mood takes him. His work is original and diverse – soaring melodies combine with haunting lyrics that touch the deepest parts of the soul. Prepare to be moved by songs of desire, faith, despair, redemption, grief, love, loss, memory and the transformative strangeness of human life.
– Suggested £5 donation, all proceeds go to the artist
George is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, originally from Gloucestershire and now based in Fife, Scotland.
Having played trombone in local 10-piece ‘Orkestra Del Sol’ for five years, George left the band to concentrate on recording and performing his solo material. He released a five-track EP, ‘Outpost’, in 2018, recorded and produced with the help of Joe Acheson and Tim Lane, who feature on bass and drums respectively. Joe and Tim also play together as members of ‘Hidden Orchestra’ (Tru Thoughts).
George’s debut full-length album, ‘Year of the Dog’, was released on 24th June 2022. He produced it himself, with support from Tim Lane on drums, Joe Acheson on bass and Bado Reti on double bass. He is currently playing solo gigs in Scotland and beyond, but can also perform as a trio, which more closely reflects the rich textures of George’s recording output.
