Paul Tasker

June 8 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

This Wednesday, we are very excited to have in the incredible Paul Tasker giving a solo performance on the house stage.

Paul Tasker is a guitarist and songwriter based in Glasgow, Scotland, and is known for his solo instrumental music and his work with Scottish nu-folk duo The Doghouse Roses and previously with American gothic folk band, The Willard Grant Conspiracy.

Influenced by fingerstyle guitarists Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, Tasker performing in Scottish traditional music bands and playing studio sessions before setting up his own label, Yellowroom Music, and branching out as a songwriter and performer in his own right. Performing on guitar and 5-string banjo, Doghouse Roses were formed in 2005, released 4 critically acclaimed albums and touring regularly across the UK and Europe.

A fulltime musician, Tasker founded his own teaching business, with studios in Glasgow’s Hidden Lane. He appeared as a ‘talking head’ demonstrating the similarities between folk music and country music in the BBC4 programme ‘Smashing Hits; The 80s roadmap of Britain and Ireland.’

A second solo instrumental CD, ‘Tierra Quemada’ was released in April 2022 and on the week of release was record of the week on Celtic Music Radio and The Iain Anderson Show on Radio Scotland. In a sparkling review, Songlines magazine stated ‘Tasker renders the nine instrumental compositions with sparkling clarity and sublime skill…a quietly engaging triumph of acoustic music making.’
