Tea and a Tune with Josiah Duhlstine

Josiah Duhlstine grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and was heavily involved in the local Classical and Folk Music communities. In 2018, Josiah moved to Glasgow to begin his undergraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and study with Alison Wells, and has since made the city his second home. While Studying at the RCS, Josiah met Scottish Pianist, Catriona Mackenzie and formed the Phoenix Duo, winning the conservatoire’s Louis Carus Duo Ensemble Prize in 2021. In 2022, the duo started performing as members of Live Music Now Scotland, specializing in care home performances, while also performing recitals at St Giles’ Cathedral, Paxton House, and Usher Hall The unique environment at RCS has allowed Josiah to become increasingly involved in the Scottish Traditional Music programme and community as well, studying with Traditional Cellist Ellen Gira and Fiddler Marie Fielding. In the Autumn of 2022, Josiah has continued at the RCS pursuing a postgraduate degree in which he will explore the connections between Classical and Traditional music and the versatility of the Cello.
