Tea and a Tune with Malachy Arnold

May 10 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The first of a new weekly series of nights showcasing Scottish trad up and comers in a solo performance setting, followed by an open tea party jam session. Kicking things off, this week we have the amazing Malachy on the clarsach.

A young and innovative Harper from Glasgow, with roots in both Irish and Scottish traditional music, Malachy grew up hugely inspired by harp playing within the family. He was taught by Tristan Le Govic, the Breton harper, Gillian Fleetwood from Scotland and Laoise Kelly in Ireland. From a young age he played and competed at Fleadhs in throughout the UK and Ireland. He has performed at various festivals including Celtic Connections and the Achill International Harp Festival in Ireland.

Malachy is about to start his second year on the BMus traditional music course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has recently focused on recording, performing and releasing his own compositions.

  • £5 suggested donation, all proceeds go to the artist
