Tea from Nuwara Eliya is highly acclaimed, often called the Champagne of Sri Lankan (Ceylonese) teas. Our Lover’s Leap Orange Pekoe (OP) is as lively as it is astringent, having been harvested in the peak’s first flush season, from February to March. This tea can be enjoyed with milk or sugar, but we recommend drinking it pure to really appreciate all its nuances.
According to legend, long ago a prince who was hunting in the area met a beautiful young lady and fell in love. Upon asking for her hand in marriage, their parents refused and, rather than being separated, they joined hands and jumped into the gushing waters of the waterfall. A shiva temple now graces the waterfall, commemorating this sad story.
