Gunpowder is so called as the dry tea leaves are rolled into tight balls (zhu cha) that resemble gunpowder. One of the most popularly consumed Chinese green teas, it has a wonderfully strong yet not overpowering aroma and a gentle astringent taste with rice-like undertones. Gunpowder is great consumed by itself, or as part of a blend. We use it together with mint tea in our Chai Nanna.
