These mugs were created in order to offer a sustainable alternative to single use tea and coffee cups – A mug for traveling or ‘stravaigin’ with.
Crafted fromĀ native clay slips, alluvial deposits and wood and peat ash glazes they speak to the overall aims of Crunch’s practice; to celebrate place, provenance, sustainability and Scottish materials.
Made from a high grog, high iron clay body and purposely thrown with thick walls; these 8oz mugs are durable and made for travel. The lids are made from silicone and fit many standard rimmed mugs.
Whilst the mugs measure 8cm by 9cm each mug’s glaze is unique.

Made using native Scottish clay slips, alluvial deposits and wood and peat ash glazes they speak to the overall aims of Crunch Willoughby’s practice; to celebrate place, provenance, sustainability and Scottish materials.
Crunch thought their name should reflect their Scottish spirit so she christened them the ‘Stravaig mug’. Still a ‘travel’ mug in function but with a Scottish heart.
Made from a high grog, high iron clay body and purposely thrown with thick walls; these 8oz mugs are durable and made for travel. The lids are made from silicone and fit many standard rimmed mugs.
The lids must be hand washed however the pots themselves are dishwasher and microwave safe – although in my experience pots will usually live a longer life if they are kept out of these environments as chances of breakages are increased in the close quarters of a dishwasher.
Due to slight variations throughout the making process every pot will be unique and display its own individual character – they may not all look exactly the same as those pictured.
